Attorney James A. Askew, attorney and sole principal member of the Askew Law Firm, LLC, passed away on September 21, 2024. His death shocked and saddened us all.
With Mr. Askew's passing, the law firm is unable to continue as a going concern and will wind up. It is expected that the law firm will cease all operations by December 31, 2024.
To assist with the closure and winding up of the law firm's operations, an “inventorying attorney” will be appointed for the Askew Law Firm, LLC in accordance with New Mexico Supreme Court Rule 17-213. Once appointed, the inventorying attorney’s role is limited but will include acting as a point of contact, handling funds in the law firm's trust account, and to the extent possible, ensuring that all clients are appropriately notified and informed about Mr. Askew's passing and the winding up of the law firm and the consequences of those events. The inventorying attorney will not be handling your legal matters unless agreed to by him and the client, and no attorney-client relationship is formed by virtue of his position as inventorying attorney.
If you need assistance in finding alternate or substitute counsel or have any questions about your legal matters and files, please contact the law firm via email at admin@askewlawfirm.com. Thank you.
"Ed was a pleasure to work with. He provided clear advice on the law, what to expect from the judge, and suggested courses of action while not being pushy. He was quick to answer questions. I appreciate that he was up front with cost and expense estimates and was careful not to spend resources when not necessary. Costs came in very close to his estimates. I will use him again and definitely refer colleagues to him."
"I was very pleased with Attorney Mazel as my advocate. Since I selected a lawyer from over a thousand miles away re: a Federal bankruptcy case,I had no idea what to expect as a claimant. Atttorney Mazel guided this rather difficult situation to a successful resolution. Colleagues from my home State were amazed. He was always kind, patient and understanding in our discussions and was totally up-front with the fees. They took time to explain the difference in options and costs as we proceeded."
"Mr. Mazel was very professional, and quickly took care of a Real Estate issue that arose. He solved the issues we were dealing with, in a highly professional manner. He saved us a lot of time and emotional stress."
"New Mexico's best business bankruptcy lawyers."
"Professional, ethical, knowledgeable, and helpful."
